Ay, Ombré!

The trend, going on a year old, greets its first birthday with a new grace and maturity.
At right, a Versace Atelier silk organza gown photographed by Craig McDean for W.
Runway looks have evolved from simple dip-dying to chiaroscuro nuance via draping and texture, with bold new shapes and textures abounding for Spring 2009

I fancy the chiaroscuro nuance, find it more subtle than dip-dying. And I really like the McQ cowl neckk tunic.

Ah CC, I love your first paragraph as much as the ombre pieces you picked out! "Chiaroscuro nuance"--what a great phrase. You're a marvelous fashion writer, darling.

That Herve Leger dress is to die for! I love everything about it - the cut, the length and the shades of gray. Some of the brightly colored bandage dresses are a little too hooker-ish for me. The gray shades are more subtle.

It's can be so luxury, as Naeem Khan dress, and so charming as Basso & Brooke dress.

Wish you fabulous Christmas and the most fabulous New Year's Eve Carrie, (in our country, Christmas is 7th January). :)
