In this post, see how to channel the doting housewife and sexy secretary looks. Of course, one could troll the thrift and vintage shops for truly vintage pieces, but modern vintage-inspired pieces are equally alluring!

I gotta say that I love this 50s mania that has taken over but I'm way more excited to see the 1940s trend that was brought on by Prada this last season.
Other than that, I love the make-up that this 50s fascination has brought on. Bright red lips. It couldn't get much better.
this is a wonderful post, i adore everything especially sam's drawings!!! as for being a betty or a joan, i suppose i'm a little bit of both! great post carrie.
Two words. Kate. Spade. Love that line. I think my style would be more of a Betty - though I'd like to be as fiery as Joan! :)
Oh, how I love this early 60's look! So gorgeous, classy and sexy!
Absolutely love all of it!!! Amazing post as always girl.

The leather fingerless gloves with the bows! Oh Emme GEE.
The whole housewife/secretary style is very sexy. Great photos.
It's actually an early 60s moment. And I've always loved this time period-- it was the movement of silhouettes from New Look to slim sheath a la Jackie O.
Oh I wish i watched this show! everyone raves about it! Lovely collection, CC! :)
Oh I just love that early 60s style.
The red Kate Spade jacket is rather fabulous, and the brooch with it.

I've never watched Mad Men before but the hype about the outfits is tempting me to start! i do love 50s dressesq
I'm both - I go for the pretty styles of Betty but I have the body of Joan (minus the huge boobs).
Wait for tomorrow, I'm scanning my Movie Magazines from 1943 and 1956 :) and posting it on my blog, super cool!
That orange dress and those gloves are insane...
Born on the right planet, at the wrong time. Nice to see the past flattered with these looks though. Loving the Marc Jacobs.
