Something Fishy

Designers are certainly tipping the SCALES these days!
Whether with pailettes, feathers, scallops or sequins, things are looking a tad fishy!
CC recalls a similar “mermaid” vibe a few seasons ago at Jean Paul Gaultier Couture (Spring 2008 scaled gown pictured below right).

I'm loving Rock & Republic. I had no idea of it's existance until I saw these boots by R&R in the portuguese Vogue. I'm really starting to like their style.

OH MY GOD, that victoria's secret pleated top, that's Bianca Balti wearing it, isn't it? I love her! Didn't know she still worked for VS.

I love how you put things together, pooling totally different looks/designers into one category. Makes me see things differently. Thanks!

I love mermaid inspired attire...maybe it's because I'm a swimmer. I love the shoes especially, with the "scales" detail on it.

I was thinking exactly the same thing, did you notice Christopher Kane's Fall 08 collection also had "fish scale" elements? He's one fishy guy ;) haha. Great blog by the way.

It's odd to say that one's garment was inspired by fish and scales, but it actually turns out to be very visually appealing!

wicked cool. I'm DYING, as Rachel Zoe would say, over the most recent Christopher Kane right now.
Have a wonderful weekend CC!

I think mermaids are rad (even if I know they're probably not real) these scale-like designs are so inspired, I love them!

I think the scales should stay on the fish... I'm afraid it would draw too much attention to hips!
