Awesome Asymmetry

A survey of the pre-fall and Haute Couture 2010 collections reveals an unsurprising trend: the one-shoulder dress. Dramatic and sexy, asymmetric looks continue to dominate the world of dress-up. Enjoy, darlings!

I find the 1-shoulder dress terribly difficult to wear, which is probably the reason my favourite is the Carolina Herrera. (Are you sure the light blue is Temperley? I thought I saw this dress in an Michael Kors' ad, but I might be confused, or they are just very similar). x

Ooh, ooh, ooh! You feartured three of my favorite dresses - the Chanel couture dress, the Donna Karan olive green dress and that stunning Armani Privé dress at the very top of your post. So divine!!!!!!!!!!

You're killing me with these posts!

So glad Herve Ledger finally sorted out a way to make that fabulous bandage dress without the bandages looking like unflattering horizontal stripes! Asymitrical Bandage dress takes it to a whole new level and just made him a genius in my book! So simple yet so chic!

What a beautiful blog you keep here...

I don't know where all those designers are based, but today's post does have that all-American pared-down look.

American fashion looks very "wearable" but tends to be ... well, not that adventurous... know what I mean?

Another fantastic post! I love the asymmetrical blue hair in the first picture.

Love this look, very slimming!

Now here is a trend that I can relate to. I have always found something rather unnatural about perfect symmetry. These dresses do such wonders for the female form. I have a couple of them, and I always feel so good about wearing them. It's a bit tricky to accessorize them just right, though.

Haute World said...

Gorgeous! I love the Grecian inspiration behind the asymmetrical designs. The Couture versions are of course phenomenal, but I also like the light Oscar de la Renta one and the more edgy Preen piece!
