Guest Post: Color Fix

This guest post is by Yelena Starikova of Glamthings.com.
So happy to write a guest post for one of my Favorite Bloggers, Miss Couture Carrie.
Today we'll talk about how to mix basic neutrals with fun colors!
I have a friend and she is very beautiful girl, but she is afraid to experiment with color. Her wardrobe is full of blacks and grays, which is fine, but it's soooooo boring!
If you want to spice up your closet without drastic changes, add some scarves, belts, T-shirts and jewelry in fun colors.
Let’s talk about your Basics and how to make it fun!
*Black. Good news black goes with everything! Try it with bright, jewel-toned shades of red, blue or green for exciting combinations. Mix red with black for seductive vavavoom effect.
*Navy and gray looks very elegant. Navy and yellow grabs attention and looks youthful.

Mix navy and white when you go sailing or want to look summery.
*Brown looks great with mellow yellow and deep purple.
*Grey and Dusty pink looks Elegant. Light Grey and Moonlight Yellow or Aqua looks Young & Intelligent.
*White and pink combination is very feminine, flower like. Add blue ~ seaside stories.
Rule to remember: One hot statement is enough!
Example: red dress + red lips= Good
red dress+ red shoes = too matchy matchy.

Guest Post: A Complimentary Class from Color U

Darlings, we know you have a great eye for fashion, but do your fashion choices bring out those pretty peepers? Or compliment your lovely locks? Or set your skin aglow? Stepping into clothes that work for you is like finding a beautiful second skin that makes you even more yourself. The basics of personal color coordination are easy to learn and fun to apply. Here's how to make the ideal clothing choice, one that will compliment your skin, hair and eyes and allow your natural beauty to shine. For you blond beauties with green or blue-green eyes, soft earth tones like browns, oranges, peaches and yellow-based greens are a must for the golden-hued among you.

Rose-based colors like pinks, plums and mauves work best for lighter toned ash blondes with eyes of blue, green, or gray.

For the true redheads, and those with auburn or coppery hair, choose golden tones in orange, camel, soft yellow greens, and muted golds.

Strawberry blonds and those with light auburn hair and light eyes should go with ivory, tan, light to medium browns, warm grays, as well as aqua, marine, and violet blues.

Brunettes with golden undertones in their hair, eyes and skin will look best in soft earth tones like ivory, apricot, beige and tans as well as violet blues and golden yellows.

Brown and black hair accompanied by dark eyes and brown or olive skin can hold its own with vibrant colors. Vivid reds, blues and greens and yellows as well as black and white will show off your stunning natural style.

Not just because it's my favorite color!

Purple. Lavender. Violet. Prune. Mauve. Plum. Lilac. Grape. Puce. Aubergine. Maybe even Indigo. Fuchsia. Magenta...
CC's suspicions that the royal hue is taking over were confirmed when she saw the New York Times Sunday Styles section today, with a full page Ralph Lauren Collection ad featuring a lone knee-high purple suede boot, opposite a half page ad of a luscious magenta Christian Dior hobo!
When used as an adjective, purple can mean: imperial, regal, or princely; brilliant or showy; marked by excessively ornate rhetoric; and profane or shocking. Is it any wonder, then, that fashionistas are embracing its power wholeheartedly??
CC is smitten, as are designers and their devotees. See the runway:
