Take stock, and make sure you have at least one jacket in each of the following categories. And remember, darlings, you need not break the bank. In addition to one splurge, shop the discount stores smartly, and pick up vintage pieces and thrifty finds from Forever 21, Target and the like. The styles pictured below can all be found at net-a-porter.com.
1) Boyfriend Blazer – this style is a keeper. Try this or hit the thrift stores, the BF’s closet, etc.
2) Summer Material – a linen or silk blend jacket in a pale shade is ideal for the upcoming seasons. CC adores this 3.1 Phillip Lim pale pink oversized linen blazer.
3) Preppy – Think band jacket, piped prep school blazer, or this Smythe Yachting blazer.
4) Cropped – This fabulous Marc by Marc Jacobs tweed crop blazer does double duty, combining the cropped shape and the tweed material that are so sought after, season to season.
5) Tailored black – A fitted jet blazer, with or without embellishments such as lace, velvet or silk collar, tuxedo elements, etc., is an absolute must for every Fashionista.
6) Asymmetric – looks range from motorcycle chic to postmodern minimalist. Try this Helmut Lang paper leather drape jacket on for size – gorgeous!
7) Leather – CC loves this Rick Owens tie-front leather jacket.
A word to the wise: blazers are far more beguiling when tailored properly. Be sure to take those vintage finds and the big ticket items to your trusted seamstress. Very few jackets fit properly right off the rack. Happy shopping, darlings!
xoxox,
CC
I really like the jacket with the cutout see-through back! I wonder if I could cut out the back of my own jacket and sew in some sheer fabric to make it look as cool as that jacket. I may give that a try.
ReplyDeleteThe white blazer with blue and red ribbons looks quite amazing.
ReplyDeletethat black one with the rolled up sleeves is exactly what i've been looking for.
ReplyDeletei love the Zac Posen jacket. I think it will look really cute with a pari of jeans =). Thanks for the inspiration CC!
ReplyDeleteI'm just wearing all my old suit jackets. Some of them are 15 years old and still going strong! Definitely a worthwhile investment.
ReplyDeleteLOVE the Sophia Kokosalaki; Rick Owens, YSL, and Balmain blazer! They're all so awesome!
ReplyDeleteBlazers are the best kind of cover ups!
I love blazers...they are such great investment pieces.
ReplyDeleteOh I love a good blazer, I think they're lifetime piece.

Happy Monday CC! Zac Posen does some of the best jackets in womenswear. I also love the Moschino jacket/look and the Balenciaga draping is insane...gotta love Nicolas Ghesquierre. I love when designers take risks with staples like jackets to make really special and unique creations.
ReplyDeleteTotally - Fantastic!
ReplyDeleteI can not find my favourite, every piece is amazing.

My favorites are from Baby Phat and Etro.
ReplyDeleteAww this post makes me sad. I bought a white linen Tory Burch blazer on eBay for $50 a few weeks back and now the Seller is telling me she can't find it. WHAAAA :(
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite basics !
ReplyDeleteI love your selection, really !
I adore blazers, the classic type or the 8o' effect.... pure love ! ;D
I gotta go for Balmain. They pretty much own the sharp shoulders look since last season. There's nothing better than a good structured blazer.
ReplyDeleteI really love blazers! and I agree The Seeker!:D
ReplyDeletexoxo: Janet
the blazer on the asian model with the liquid leggings look great - man i need to brush up on the shows so that i don't sound like an amateur! :)~
ReplyDeleteBalengiaga really never gets it wrong. That is my fav.
ReplyDeleteWhether they tout themselves as sleek and chic, buttoned, zipped, puffy sleeves, layered, or torn and cut out... blazers are defintiely a mainstay.

ReplyDeletelove the Roland Mouret, balmain, and the Pollini...nice post--oh! i so want a fushcia blazer :)

I love blazers but my trouble with them is that I have very broad shoulders. They'll fit okay through the torso and then be too tight in the shoulders. So far I've only found 1 that fits like it ought to. :(
ReplyDeleteI love your round-up of the best blazer types at the end of this post!
Spring season is blazer season! I am so ready for it! :-)

i want them all, but my favs are z.posen and pollini. love these collages!
ReplyDeleteI am going to be investing in a quality fitted and cropped black blazer in the near future for our southern hemisphere's winter. At the moment they are just so chic and there is so much variation in style, yet they are still so versitile. Love it! xx
