Smart Sale Shopping

Fellow Fashionista The Seeker of Searching the Inner Me recently requested a “how to shop the sales smartly” post. What shall we stock up on in anticipation of the coming seasons? Which key pieces will transcend the test of trendiness and remain fashionable for seasons to come?
Here are CC’s selections from fave online sites shopbop.com and net-a-porter.com, in alphabetical order by designer. All items are from 50 to 70% off and thus may be going fast!
1) Abaeté asymmetric silk-chiffon dress
2) Bop Basics tee dress
3) Botkier wristlet
4) Brian Atwood Yasmine satin slingbacks
5) Earnest Swen wide leg jean
6) Halston shirt dress
7) Helmut Lang geo print dress
8) KORS pea coat
9) Laila Azhar side drape dress
10) LaROK skinny pant
11) Loeffler Randall boots
12) Miu Miu pailette covered clutch
13) Mulberry ostrich Bayswater bag
14) Nightcap Clothing beaded tank
15) Pedro Garcia Leslie satin pumps
16) T-Bags cowl back dress
17) TIBI Coral Reef dress
18) Twenty8Twelve Clyde coat
Remember: it’s not better just because it’s on sale! Don’t wear your “sale goggles” while browsing, and for Pete’s sake, don’t shop online late at night. Happy shopping, darlings!
xoxox,
CC

P.S. Another amazing sale to check out: 75% off at Ron Herman.

  1. I say for sales, get something you wouldn't be daring enough to get at full price. Last year, I almost got a pair of peeptoe booties in boring black, but I decided for the price that I was paying I should branch out and instead got a neutral color -- people admire them all the time! I don't think I would have enjoyed them as much in basic black.

  3. I often have my sale goggles on :( but then i ask myself it it wasn't said designer/on sale would I still want it. Navigating those sales are a tricky tricky thing!

  9. I tend to flip-flop between what WendyB does and just buying things I know I would get a lot of wear out of. This year during Boxing Week I bought a satiny halter vest, something I wouldn't normally go for, but I also stocked up on tights, undies, and bought an everyday cardigan.

  11. good point on the "sale goggles" I used to fall in that trap a lot. Now I only buy pieces that I really want regardless of sale but the sale price definitely helps!

  37. I found your blog through a comment you left on that hilarious(!!!!) Rufus/Gossip Girl site. (Should I say that in public?) I'm not comfortable enough yet to admit I am a 'gossip girl fan' or even that I watch the show. I'm older than you so it looks really pathetic, but luckily I have teenage daughters I can pin it on. ("Oh well, the girls had that silly show on and I was in the living room folding laundry so I had to sit through the entire episode...yes, it was a really big load of laundry I had to fold...)
Anyway very glad my guilty and shameful pleasure lead me to your site! I am a jewelry designer who works from home and my couture could definately use some inspiration. My pathetic New Years resolution was to actually to get dressed in real clothes each day! (Sweats are so dang comfortable!)
A woman in her late thirties that folds laundry, watches tv, and lives in sweat pants. My... I am really painting an alluring and captivating portrait of myself.
At least my sweats and t's are always accesorized with awesome jewelry! ha!
