Now, it’s Personal!

Anthropomorphic iconography as adornment: love it or hate it, people are everywhere! Whether cartoonish (Marc Jacobs), representative (McQueen), abstract (Versace, gown detail at left), Warholian (DKNY) or historically referential (Dior), the body is a point of departure for many a designer these days.

“PERSON”ALIZED ACCESSORIES
Given her background in art history, CC was quite taken with Christian Dior’s figural sandals, necklaces and earrings . . .
Dior's arty statement pumps, collars, and chandeliers resemble fertility idols, like this Cycladic figurine from the Stone Age in Greece, circa 2500 B.C.
Apart from being historically referential end exceedingly creative, these accents have other assets to which we non-models can relate... curves!

    I'm definitely not a fan of the cartoon clothing. But, oh well - the good thing about fashion is that it comes and goes and nothing ever stays around forever.

    Have I mentioned lately how awesome your blog is? It's obvious that you put a lot of time and effort into it and I love it!

    Amazingly, I have a T dress with a woman's face on it. Never thought I'd buy such a thing, but there you go! (Not my front and centre fave trend, but I wouldn't dismiss it.)

    I think this trend is tons of fun,what i like about it Carrie is the varying types of inspiration.From Art,to cartoons to all in between. Those dior shoe heels,earrings and necklace remind me of fertility dolls!
    I think we will be seeing so much of this trend.

    I love the dress from Lanvin summer 07. I especially love t-shirts with photos of iconic people on them.

    Anthropomorphic iconography ... can be really hip, but sometimes I think it just looks tacky. >_< I like it better in cartoon or animated like form (vs. real silk screened photos, or what not), but even then... oh but I have seen this trend done really well, I just remembered seeing a girl who had a Justice League t-shirts (like from the comics) and it was to die for! :D
