Yeah, we’re biased . . .

Bias plaids are really swaying designers lately! The trend started with Fall 2008, and it is continuing for Spring 2009! The most fabulous aspect of this trend is that bias plaids are so flattering! In the same way that diagonal striped patterns trumps the horizontal ones, tartans cut on the bias are far more figure-friendly.

  1. Living in the Pacific Northwest, I'm finding myself especially drawn to the lumberjack plaid (I think other people call it hunter plaid??) like that blue and black handbag you pictured. Forever 21 has the most adorable jacket in red and black but when I tried it on, I found it had fallen prey to that common F21 malady - great design, bad cut. It just doesn't come together the way it's supposed to. Tried multiples...sad.

Loving the new layout, by the way. :)

  4. i'm SUCH a sucker for plaid, it's so timeless and attractive -- perhaps its just my scottish roots lusting after all the tartan you've featured, but i can't help but love it! (:

  5. I do love plaid, there are some amazing plaids you've posted here! And maybe this is a stupid question, but I'm curious what is "bias plaid"? I've never heard someone say bias plaid... I just know plaid as well, plaid. :)

I love the D&G's new ad too!
I find this trend very casual-chic, sort of country but very very elegant. I love it :)I saw this plaid shirt in Stradivarius the other day, so gorgeous... it's stuck in my mind while this little voice keeps sayin 'Buy me, BUY ME' =P

Keep rockin, CC. I so love this blog!

  8. some people know how to make plaid so incredibly chic & sophisticated that you forget its plaid, and others just remind u of something overused, everwhere, tablelcoths & lumberjack.

    OMG at those shoes!!!

  24. I love the fringe, fur etc from the last post...there's a dog across the road that looks pretty similar to one of those shoes, lol. The tartan i'm feeling, i think Ralph Lauren is having a pretty strong couple of seasons.

  25. I almost bought the plaid f21 dress!! But it looked too tent-y.
I have had such a personal resurgence of my childhood plaid obsession - jeez. I can't remember the last time I scoured for something quite as desperately as I did for a yellow plaid dress for fall - AND I HAVENT FOUND ONE YET! Poo.

  26. Oh you had me at Anna Sui! I love plaids - and bias plaids definitely seem to be more flattering. I was actually on the lookout for some plaid wonders a few days ago so thank you for posting these I'll definitely have to check them out!

PS. You have me stalking Net-a-Porter for the AKA New York dress you posted a few days ago - if our Aus dollar wasn't so dismal I'd be snapping it up in a heartbeat!

  37. Creo que el desfile de Antonio Berardi es de lo mejor que se ha visto este invierno. El pase que has puesto (Shannan Click) es magnífico.

Por cierto, ¿te caen mal la Loren y Penélope Cruz? :)

    Un saludo.

  43. I must say that after learning about all the trend forecasting websites that exist yesterday [I honestly had no idea!] everyone that's onto this trend just feels unoriginal and like they all read the same report and decided to make it into a trend. Oh no! I'm becoming even more cynical about fashion.

  44. absolutely loving plaid right now....and the Dolce ads are at the top of my list!!! love them.
