... as in: Asymmetric Hem! We’ve become accustomed to the one-shoulder look; now it’s time for a whole new asymmetry! Hems have gone haywire, and the effect is magnificently uneven!

WHAT TO BUY:
For beginners: an asymmetric hem sweater, like this Vivienne Westwood Red Label oversized cable cardigan, available at net-a-porter.com.
For the adventurous – CC loves asymmetric hem skirts because they allow a gal to show a bit of leg without crossing the line into trampy…
At left: Chloé Wanderlust asymmetric floral skirt; this and next at net-a-porter.com.
Vivienne Westwood Red Label new basic draped skirt
Gary Graham Secretary shirting skirt. Visit lagarconne.com.
For advanced fashionistas: the asymmetric hem dress.
At right: Jenni Kayne swing tank dress.
Left: Alice + Olivia structured collar tweed dress; both at shopbop.com.
Roksanda Ilincic asymmetric color block frock - it doesn't get any pinker than this! This and next five frocks available at net-a-porter.com.
Rue du Mail asymmetric velvet dress
Roksanda Ilincic square drape dress
Vivienne Westwood Red Label crepe jersey corset dress
Alexander McQueen satin one-shoulder dress

Will you be wearing the a-hem trend??
i love the hems that show a different color underneath, gorgeous!
ReplyDeletecarrie, the rue du mail is stunning! very blade runneresque. i learn something new about fashion every time i visit your blog....great post!
ReplyDeletecara mia
I wish I could pull this look off as good as the models do!
ReplyDeletesometimes i like asymmetric sometimes no.. i guess just because it can sometimes feel dated.. but love how your picks are so subtle! love them!
ReplyDeleteIt looks very interesting! I feel so inspired...
ReplyDeleteall these dresses are stunning. But for some reason i am not drawn to asymmetrical hems.
ReplyDeletei do love them... i'm just not IN love with them! okay i'm a nerd.
loves.
christopher kane is reallly good !! i love it !
ReplyDeletegood call...when i want to show some leg, choosing an asymmetrical hem is totally the way to go. wow, isn't anne hathaway unbelievably stunning?
ReplyDeleteOh Anne Hathaway's dress is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteHaha I feel like this is another one of those times where I just wear what I love and somehow it comes back as a trend. My staple LBD has an a-hem, as does a pink paisley dress hanging in my closet.
It is a lovely look. I still adore Anne in that Versace dress.
ReplyDeleteHi there-totally loving Viv Westwoods pieces, very nice indeed!
ReplyDeleteanne hathaway's dress is absolutely stunning!
ReplyDeletei love the blog...visit mine sometime, i am linking you right now.
Hola, a mí me gusta mucho en faldas y vestidos, sobre todo largo por detrás y corto por delante. Un saludo.
ReplyDeleteLove the hems, trend
ReplyDeletemy favorite dress has to be th lilac Roksanda Ilincic
Such a pretty post--very fluid and feminine. I don't think I have ever worn an asymmetrical hem before. Not sure I would. But, they are very pretty.
ReplyDeleteThe one Anne wore is freaking amazing! All the flowers..wow..
ReplyDeleteHahaha you made my day with your comment "maybe just because it's getting close to Halloween and I'm keeping an eye out for costumes?"
ReplyDeleteYou really have an eye for fashion, always noticing the trends and stuff. :))
I love the necklace on the VPL model.
Have a good day also and thanks for the birthday wishes :)
I am in love with this look! And my gams are perfect for them!
ReplyDeletexoxo
Great! I love symmetric designs but these is great too! that orange dress ws my favourite...
ReplyDeleteGreat Blog!
xoxo
anne hathaway makes me actually like her, because of that atelier versace dress.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comment and the advice, i will definitely take that into consideration....
Ok, you totally deserve an award for clever titles! And I love some looks with asymmetric hems, and others... not so much. I guess it's yet another one of things where, if done right, it looked killer, and if done right, it can just look like a mess! ;)
ReplyDeletexoxo,
S-C
The Luella dress! iiiih!
ReplyDeletefall to me equals DETAILS DETAILS DETAILS....and I'm just loving it all!
ReplyDeleteI'm especially smitten with Anne's dress! How magnificent!!
ReplyDeletegoodness...how do you find what you find? genius my friend...I want the cozy sweater please.
ReplyDeleteAhhh asymmetrical anything rocks my world. I used to be OCD about it because it wasn't even, but now it looks so sharp to my eye. Recently I've been playing around with the off-the-shoulder look.
ReplyDeleteI love the black skirt! I do like asymmetric but only certain cuts. It's a tricky look...
ReplyDeleteOoh lala! Fabulous post. I like the way you are labeling things now :) Looks great !
ReplyDeleteANOTHER brilliant post. God i love all of these. f. you teach me bad bad things. That last dress is a cha cha dream!!! but the oscar de la renta and vpl are my faves.
ReplyDeleteI love this look so much! I once tried to make an asymmetrical skirt and uh, lets just say the results were 'indecent' hehe. I think I'll just stick to buying the skirts instead.
ReplyDeleteI'm loving the rue de mail velvet dress. It's luxurious and cozy,
ReplyDeleteI wore a bespoke asymmetrical hem to my graduation dance (we didn't call it a "prom"), and, like the argyle, it belongs best to my memories. But the rue de mail is tres subtle and could easily change my mind. Am going to hunt it down right now!
one of my favorite trends, and this must be the best post title ever!
ReplyDeleteI love asymetric hems. I have a dress that's asymmetric, but I don't think it's on purpose lol. I love it anyway.
ReplyDeleteThe black with fringe. :)
ReplyDeleteI like a straight boring hem... but if I have to pick... I pick Oscar de la Renta... FUN skirt, big belt, blouse... of course I will need to look like the model wearing it as well... hmmmm
ReplyDeleteI love all of it !!
ReplyDeleteBut the hit: The pink shoes
I love Stammy's look at Oscar de la Renta, and also the Atsuro Tayama one!
ReplyDeletegreat post!
ReplyDeleteand yes, the style is great :) Love it
xo
For a night out this would work so well, not so much in the day (for me).
ReplyDeletejuliet xxx
the a-hem look is great. very flattering as it makes one's legs look realllly long. wouldnt wear it with too many ruffles, though. x

ReplyDeleteGreat post!! Your blog is really interesting, the pictures are amazing!!
ReplyDeleteThe asymmetric has to be my all time favorite. Especially when Valentino did it. I couldn't ask for more. <3
ReplyDeleteAnne looked phenominal in that Versace dress. She had to step so much out of her comfort zone...
As you can see by my lack of posts, I've lost all interent connection on my laptop becasue of the weather. I have no clue when it's going to come back...so my whole blog has gone crazy. :/
