CC misses...

CC was inspired by this Bon Bon Rose post to wax nostalgic about the 90s... Some of CC’s experiences are personal, others universal... [First photo, 1991 Versace ad].
Here are CC’s 9 90’s picks:
CC misses:
1. Step aerobics... Whatever happened to this exercise craze? Italian Vogue, June 2006.
2. Tanning, oblivious to the consequences. French Vogue, August 2005.
3. “It” bags. V, March 2008.
4. Supermodels. Italian Vogue, September 1994.
5. Touring Europe on $30 a day while in college. This photo courtesy Fellow Fashionista Fashionadaption.
6. Partying til the wee hours and then crashing in full makeup. Italian Vogue editorial by Craig McDean.
7. Lifeguarding. Russian Vogue, June 2006.
8. Looking in the mirror and not seeing a single line or wrinkle! Elle, July 2005.
9. Shiny minis and fuzzy shrunken sweaters a la Donna Martin. Versace ad campaign, Spring 1994.
What do you miss about the last decade of the last century, darlings?
xoxox,
CC
P.S. If you haven’t already, definitely check out the blog that pays homage to this divine era, Children of the 90s.

  1. Even though, I was a little girl in the 1990s, I do remember watching supermodels on Style Files! I remember when all fashion magazines would have a supermodel on the cover each month! The 90s was a wonderful time for fashion!

  6. Such a lovely post!!!!!!!!!! Brings back so many memories... I'd also add blue eyeshadows. :) You know it was the time of the original BH90210 and everyone was wearing blue eyeshadows. :))) And those tiny mini sweaters, too. I used to knit mine myself.
    And of course, the supermodels...
    Oh, I really miss 90's...
Thanks so much for this post, darling!

  9. Leg warmers. I truly miss leg warmers. My sister bought me a pair for Christmas a couple years back. Maybe if I wore them over skinny jeans with ballerina flats I could revive this long-forgotten style! :)

  10. Hmmm...crashing in bed with full make up. That's my life story NOW. Haha.

You picked some great ones. I miss supermodels...nowadays magazine covers are just splashed with celebrities. :(

I miss cheesy sitcoms from the '90s. I'm tired of reality television!

  18. i love this post! i miss all the classic tv shows, and those days when people cared about how they looked (like in the fifties when everyone dressed up to go to the grocery store) i was born in 1993, but i miss people that had a focus.

  22. Awwe, I've been watching Beverly Hills 90210 lately, and thought about how gutsy Donna Martin was for her extremelyyy cropped sweaters.
I miss supermodels too. Now it's mostly celebrities on magazine covers.
And so true about tanning! = / While I love being tan, and laying out by the pool, in the back of my head that icky word "cancer" pops up, ruining it a bit.

    Enjoy your weekend, darling CC!

  25. Great 90s post. I was born in August of 1989, so I consider myself more of a product of the 90s than of the 80s.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Cute! I love #5 and I still do "Tanning, oblivious to the consequences" except I'm not oblivious...just taking my chances lol. Luckily we don't get much sun up here and I don't use beds!

I was born in 81 so I was a child of the 80's and a teenager of the 90's - deadly combo!

  60. In fact, i never saw the 90's fashion scene in real time.
So, now i just see the past.
Fun to see supermodels were fresh and walked cool on videos and pics including this post.
You have good personal fashion memories in 90's, don't you?
    Past is past's.
    Present is present's.
Better to think like this,,,i feel.
But sometimes It is comfortable to remember the sweet past memories;)
