P is for Paisley!

This playful print is more versatile than you may think! True, paisley can have a retro vibe, as it does in the photo at right of Icelandic rock group Amiina, featured in the New York Times Magazine.
Paisley can be intricate and artistic, like this gorgeous Sophia Kokosalaki print.

Paisley might be bright and decorative, as at Tibi.

Or paisley can be dark and brooding, as at Burberry ...
... and DKNY

At D&G, paisleys were oversize and psychedelic, in acid hues and on velvet! Furthermore, the pattern was combined to wonderful effect with argyles and other prints. Gorgeous!

Paisley provided an understated accent at Dries Van Noten
Etro's paisley took the shape of a shiny suit!
Betsey Johnson gave the pattern an 80s/hippie vibe by pairing it with crimped locks and a fringed suede bag.
Of course, at Gucci the paisley was sexy and dramatic!
Hermés gave the paisley a millionaire playboy vibe with sumptuous silks.
Chloé and others tended toward a more marine color scheme.

  2. Love your post it's fab as usual Miss Couture Carrie. I'm not really big on the browns but I do think that some of these prints and designs are great. One would have to be very careful before buying any of these items..if the cut is not right for your body type you could end up looking very dowdy. What do you think?

I think my fave twist on this micro-trend this season is Burberry's! Love the dark and brooding feel to the paisley in their collection. Carrie darling your posts seem to get even more fab each time if that's possible!

  10. I think paisley can work well on some people and in some forms but for the most part it reminds me of this nude hippie I had to draw in my freshman year of college. She was pretty gross. I guess I'm biased.
But in small doses and certain colors I do think it's pretty.

  20. Paisely is one of those things I've always loved but has puzzled me a tad on how to wear it! It seems so... luxurious but whenever I wear it I feel a little too casual. I LOVE how others do though! That necklace is divine!

  33. Gucci and D&G collections make my heart stop really.

Thank you for the lovely comment on my new layout post. I realised how hard it could be for you to post all these images with captions. Blogger doesn't handle that well at all. I'm thinking of writing up a style that can be applied so that captioning can be simpler. I'll let you know when I'm done.

  35. Hi CC! sorry, I just saw your msg in my blog, re: Illo. Sure you can use that illustration, within this context is grand on me. The only thing that I'd ask you is to refer my name or to link my blog. It is up to you!.
I have ALLWAYS loved those patterns, so oriental, so "between wars" time... Here it's called "corbatero". Comes, as you'd probably know well -as your spanish is great!- from "corbata", necktie. I got a silver one in grey-purple-black, and seing those in your blog I really want another one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The hand bag was fab as well as the necklace.

Oh, and I'm swooning over the 3.1 Phillip Lim tunic! (It kind of reminds me of Blair's white outfit that she wore to brunch.)
