In the Hood!

That’s right, darlings, H is for Hood!

Photo inspirations:
Above: a recent Benetton ad - CC just couldn’t resist posting, particularly since the silk scarf look was utilized at D&G!

On the runways, hoods were essential, on everything from coats to cardis, in fabrics ranging from fur to silk to lambswool to leather.

The best and easiest way to wear a hood (other than on your sweatshirt – a tiresome look that CC will refrain from picturing here):
On a fab fall topper!

Alloy's hooded wool peacoat - it comes in 7 colors, and the price is right at $109!
CC really adores this substantial Stella McCartney tweed duffle coat.
It even has a detachable hood! Visit net-a-porter.com

What better way to lounge??

CC saves her fave pick for last: a sophisticated and practical, yet unique, Vera Wang hooded tailcoat cardigan. A sumptuous and snazzy way to layer your look this autumn!

That’s what’s good in the ‘hood, darlings!

How will YOU be wearing the trend?

  1. I don't know how you find the time to find all of these stunning images every day. It's amazing!! The hoods are really cool..did you ever watch Project Runway Canada? Last year was the first season and Evan Biddell won the competition. He played a lot with hoods, his clothes are really great. I believe he is showing at Loreal Fashion Week in Toronto this year. Here is an example:)

I have a couple of hooded dresses and lots and lots of hooded coats and whatnot, which will undoubtedly be posted as we near colder weather. I particularly love wearing a thin-knit hooded cardigan with my leather jacket!

  21. You are wonderful, darlings, and very welcome . . .

As for finding the time? My main thrill in life is viewing and compiling fashion photos; I have 50 different files/themes on my desktop at any given moment, so it's no trouble to post the contents when the time is right! I planned the ABCs in advance . . .

    but i do love hoods!

    ReplyDelete
  27. oooh, i like hoods. and these ones are pretty inspiring.

the issue with hoods though, is the bad hair days they engender, sadly.

i'd love to start wearing headscarfs a'a 1940s film goddesses, but i really have nothing in my life that justifies such dramatic dressing! maybe that's a good holidays choice.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I loved the silk scarf wrap. Such effortless glamour! Your blog is amazing!

    ReplyDelete
  29. The Vera Wang hooded tailcoat cardigan; good to wear in the rain...already pulled on up over your head! Yet, as you suggest, in the hood dont matter if it's raining or not. look'n good'n the hood and I think you are being influential...;)

  46. hey you .... To answer your question regarding architects ... I would have to say that I admire work of Renaissance architects especially Palladio's Villas.Meanwhile. I'm still getting used to the modern architecture but I do admire some of the work by Le Corbusier. What about you, any favorites or any recommendations ( I am always looking to learn something new in fine art and architecture field) :D

Now on to fashion, I personally love hooded jackets, they are very useful and speaking of Project Runway Canada, I watched a few episodes and Biddell stuff is quite impressive... definately interested to see more from him :)

P.S.Thank you so much for stopping by my blog and for leaving really sweet comments :)

  49. I love to use Hermes scarf to bind my hair when the top is down driving about town. my favorite is a chanel sport coat with hidden compartment to hide a hood but can be taken out when needed.

  50. how i missed streetstyle.. manila is basically ALL indoors! *pft*

and i actually purchased a hoodie scarf last winter, from bein inspired with stylebytes.. oh how we miss her :)

but i love this post still, but i can only look at them for now :(

    ReplyDelete
  51. hair wrapped with a scarf is little more formal than just a hood off a say hoodie or parka, right? I can't never picture myself having a scarf around my head as elegantly as Jackie Kennedy or Grace Kelly for example.

Gautier's design is so chic tho. it's not that formal but not to casual either. i'm saving that image for my inspiration.

    merci CC always.

ps how do you do it by the way? it's amazing the effort that goes into creating a post like this!

    ReplyDelete
  52. Love the hoods, they are perfect for winter! They always seem to remind me of a grown up Little Red Riding Hood for some reason, but I love the dreamlike quality behind them :)

    ReplyDelete
  53. Oh, don't bring us to Fall yet ... I want to enjoy summer a little bit more!

    ReplyDelete
  54. I've always loved a great hood!! The one that Chanel Iman is wearing is fabulous!

    ReplyDelete
  55. I just love hoods! They are so practical and better than hats in so many ways.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Oooh, I like these. They're sort of dramatic and unusual (like opera gloves now a days)...I wonder if I can pull one off.

    ReplyDelete
  57. omg!! I love them...Im a hoodie queen around the fall time!!! xoxo

    ReplyDelete
  58. I love how much effort you always put into your posts. I must say i really like that Chanel Iman pic at Stella McCartney, and I'm really pleased to see the vast number of designers focusing on drapey material, hoodies, scarves etc to keep your head warm. Totally unglamorous way of saying it, but i love it.

    ReplyDelete
  59. CC! Have you seen Diesel's s/s silk collection pink leather hooded jacket???
